The first thing we noticed when we got to Langton's was that it had a lot of locals in it. This is usually a very good sign.

Chicken soup. |
To start, I had chicken soup with the ubiqutious homemade soda bread. The soup was hearty, but very bland--it cried out for seasoning, but perhaps that's the traditional way to serve it. The bread, as was par for the course in Ireland, was delicious.

Fish...cocktail? |
Mary had a fish cocktail of haddock, cod, and salmon. This was interesting--all of Irelands aquatic superstars in one dish. It was well seasoned and delicious.

Traditional Irish stew. Bland and hearty. |
For our main course, I had the traditional Irish stew. I was expecting a hearty beef-based stew with vegetables, but what I got was nothing like that: a very thin broth with several whole boiled potatoes, some boiled meat (mutton?), carrots, and onions. Again, it was extremely bland, with no seasoning whatsoever.

Kilkenny lamb. |
Mary had the lamb (sourced locally), which was prepared well--not overcooked, and with a solid jus.
Overall, a reasonable meal. I'm not sure I'd ever go back to Langton's, but we left full and happy.
